Tunis Fleece and Handspun Yarn
Tunis fiber is classified with the down breeds as to its
fiber type and characteristics. It is a lofty fiber with
good crimp that lends itself to being spun either woolen
or worsted. It dyes well. It does not felt easily making
it a good choice for socks and other wearables.
I prefer to comb rather than card the fiber. It spins like
a dream making it a good fiber for new spinners. Once
you have spun Tunis you will be hooked.
Raw Skirted fleece $10 per pound
Spun yarn $20 per 100 grams.
We have a small flock of laying hens (both Chantecler and
commercial cross chickens) supplying us with eggs as well as
enough to sell by appointment. Our hens are allowed to free range if
there is no danger of Avian Flu from migrating birds. The picture is of
homemade Creme Brulé made with our eggs. I love the golden
colour.
Price $5 a dozen eggs.
